Are You Experiencing Financial Difficulties?
Many people in the Lincoln community are experiencing financial distress due to the COVID-19 crisis. The Council on Aging & Human Services' Emergency Assistance Fund and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Financial Assistance Program and Food Pantry would like to help. If you are a Lincoln resident, Hanscom resident, METCO family, or Town Employee and:
- Cannot pay your rent or utility bills
- Cannot afford food, medication, health insurance, or other essential health-related costs
- Are going into credit card debt to pay essential bills
- Have other financial challenges that threaten your ability to live safely in our community
Please contact the Council on Aging and Human Services at butta@lincolntown.org or (781) 259-8811 or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Julia Parish at (781) 899-2611 or svdplincolnweston@gmail.com. You may contact either organization for a PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL CONSULTATION to determine what services and benefits may be of help, including possibly payment of some bills. Our two organizations are working together, so contacting either one will put you in touch with the assistance of both.
Both the Lincoln Emergency Assistance Fund and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul are funded entirely by grants and donations. To make a donation to the Council on Aging & Human Services Emergency Assistance Fund, please send a check payable to the Town of Lincoln, with memo “Emergency Assistance Fund” and addressed to COA&HS c/o Town Offices, 16 Lincoln Road, Lincoln, MA 01773. For Residents of All Ages
If you may lose your home or your ability to stay in Lincoln due to an unforeseen financial situation resulting in your inability to pay bills and $2,500 or less would make a substantial difference, you may be eligible for the Emergency Assistance Fund. This program is funded by grants from the Ogden Codman Trust and the First Parish Outreach Committee and individual donations. It is overseen by the Lincoln Emergency Assistance Committee and provides grants in some situations in which this amount would enable a resident to remain in his or her home. You may only receive $2,000 in a lifetime for an individual.
For Residents of All Ages with Low Incomes
If:
- You have no food in the house and no money with which to buy food
- You need a necessary medication and have no money with which to buy it
- Your home or apartment has had an unexpected catastrophe such as a fire or flood and you need a place to stay for a night or two while your home is made habitable
You may be eligible for the Small Necessities Project. This Project, funded by the Ogden Codman Trust and overseen by the Lincoln Emergency Assistance Committee, provides small amounts of assistance for residents in extreme need while more permanent solutions to their situations can be found.
If you would like help paying your winter fuel bill, you may be eligible for the state of Massachusetts Fuel Assistance Program, which provides a benefit about $300-$700 to pay for fuel. The COA&HS will help you fill out and submit the application. Please note that the state only accepts applications from November through April.
For Residents 60 or Older with Low Incomes
Those 60 and older with low incomes may be eligible for $25 worth of Farmer's Market Coupons to use to purchase fresh produce each summer and fall. Call the COA&HS for more information.
